Finding for an excellent domain registration and hosting plan is much like looking for a new home. Undoubtedly, you want the best. You want a memorable domain name and a hosting plan that has all of the features that you need. And most importantly, you want a plan that is easy to work with and a price that fits into your budget.
Needless to say, there are a number of domain name extensions and web hosting plans to choose from so you'll have to do some research and shopping to find a plan that’s perfect for you.
First you'll need to determine how much you're willing to pay for your new domain and hosting plan.
Domain Registration And Hosting Basics
Costs for domain registration will vary based on the extension you choose from and the registrar you choose to register the domain. Top level .com still remains the most popular extension for the most part. Other TLD's like .net; .org; .biz; .co.uk; .tv; .me are also available if needed.
Once you've registered your new domain, the next thing that you'll need to get in order is your hosting account. Things that you should consider when looking for web hosting plan will be whether or not it includes a website builder to construct your new website with, if the account provides enough disk space to store your documents, how much Email can be stored or saved, how many users can be added to your account and other technical details.
Cost and features are most important!
Your web host should support the ability to store files like .gif, .jpeg, .bmp, and other formats that you may need for your site. If you have any questions about the type of content that's permitted to be published on your website, be sure to discuss your plans with the web host to avoid any issues that could arise because of a misunderstanding.
If you need the ability to sell items from your website, be sure that an E-Commerce solution is readily available to securely sell online.
Don't forget to be social!
As the Internet has moved towards a more 'social' way of interacting and sharing content with others, don't overlook the importance of offering social sharing tools to your web pages. This makes it easier for your friends to share your web pages with others and help spread the word about your business.

Why Pay A Web Designer When You Can Do It Yourself?
If you've been thinking about revamping your existing website or you're contemplating publishing your first website, chances are you've been weighing your options as it relates to web design.
One option is to hire a web designer, but here are some reasons that a do-it-yourself website builder might be a better solution for you.
- Web Designers can be expensive. A Do-It-Yourself Website Builder is a way to pay a flat monthly fee that includes everything you need to build your own website.
- Web Designers have time constraints. Chances are that your website won't be the only project that the designer is working on, so you might have to wait days or weeks for your project to be completed. With a Sitebuilder tool you can make adjustments to your website in your spare time or on an 'as-needed' basis.
- Added functionality equals added costs. Since web designers might not include everything in their design packages, you might have to pay extra for the addition of functionality such as social sharing buttons, a Facebook Fan Page or adding a blog to your website. SaaS based website builder software gives you the ability to add all of these great features to your webpages wherever you want them for no extra cash.
- More fun for you. Since a do it yourself solution lets you 'get your hands dirty' so to speak, you get to have all of the fun building the site of your dreams. It's easy to use and most importantly, affordable for all budgets. This lets you spend the money you would have spent on a web designer somewhere better - like on a night out or a family fun day.
If you still aren't convinced that a do-it-yourself website building solution is for you, please feel free to try a free demo here and see for yourself! You'll be happy that you did..

Affected By The Penguin Update? It Could Be Time To Start A New Website
So far, this year has been one filled with dramatic changes for webmasters everywhere.
Search engines that once favored content rich websites have apparently changed some of their algorithmic ways and left many a site owner scratching their head about what their next move is. Should you make make moves to 'de-optimize' your existing site? Should you try to remove low level links to your website?
Should you cull through thousands of pages of content and try to distill your message in to something more focused?
While all of these tactics might be helpful in your attempt to 'fix' your existing website, it's worth noting that this will also be time consuming and require you to 'undo' a lot of things you've done over the past weeks, months or even years - depending on the website. In my opinion, this time might be better spent building something fresh and brand new that has a better chance of survival.
I'm sure that you're probably thinking "Why that? My website is 9 years old, has had top search rankings for 8 1/2 of them and I want to get it all back in a hurry."
Of course, that makes some amount of sense but being afraid to try your hand with a new website could be holding you back and might actually be just what the search engine doctor ordered.
Even Overstock.com - a large Internet retailer - was willing to rethink their Internet marketing approach and came resurrected their brand as O.co in early 2011. This was after being known as Overstock.com for 14 years. While your brand might not be as large or as impressive, it certainly is a bit of food for thought.
Since I have your ear, here are a few other ideas that could help your online efforts rise like a Phoenix in the wake of the recent algo changes:

Since I have your ear, here are a few other ideas that could help your online efforts rise like a Phoenix in the wake of the recent algo changes:
- Select a brand new domain. Despite what you might think, there are still a number of great .com's still available. If you've been in the habit of using keyword laden URL's, try registering a domain that isn't 'keyword-centric' to observe if this helpful or detrimental to your online efforts.
- Don't use Wordpress. I know, I know - Wordpress is easy to use and all, but this CMS is being used to stamp out over 100,000 blogs every day! In a year that's over 36 million occurrences of the same basic website, even if your Wordpress is so customized it has it's own rims. Think of your website as you would a new car. If you have the same V8 engine all the other cars on the road are equipped with there's little chance that you can go from 0-60 any faster than anyone else using the same technology. If however, you're behind the wheel of an Aston-Martin you have a competitive advantage over everyone else that doesn't have a car built specifically to go from 0-62 MPH in under 4 seconds. Get where I'm headed with this one?
- Consider using a different webhost than you usually do. Sure, staying with the host you already have offers a bit of comfortable familiarity, but sometimes a new webhost can offer advantages like faster servers, better sitebuilding software and other technical advantages for your new website.
If your website took a substantial blow during the updates this year, I hope that you'll take some of my advice to heart and try something new - if nothing else, it can help you focus on something positive and forward moving instead of dwelling on what you had.
In a lot of ways, starting a new website is like moving to a new town or beginning a new relationship - it's different, it's exciting, it's new and offers a bright new future filled with endless possibilities. How can that not be a good thing?
